Omar Al Kaissi was born in 1992 in Tunis. He moved to Vienna at the age of 13 where he is currently working and living. A self-taught painter and draftsman, he pursued a degree in psychotherapy due to his interest in ‚Jungian‘ psychology and spiritism. His works are inspired by ancient oriental and western mythology, sacred symbolism and dreams. Omar Al Kaissi is best known for his archetypal surrealist images, using strong, vivid colors, ornaments and animal prints, contrasting it with a penchant for the mystic and macabre. The main focus of his work is the progressive dissolution of emotions and the human condition, his works capture the essential parts of both torment and ecstasy.
